Legendary Dublin Blues guitarist Pat Farrell played the clubs and pubs of Dublin and the whole of Ireland for many years and was the blues’ guitarists’ favourite blues player.

Pat Farrell played twin guitars in several bands with the late great guitarist Jimmy Faulkner including Jangle Dangle and The Floating Dublin Blues Band with Red Peters, the best blues singer Ireland ever produced along with the bassist, the late great Declan McNelis.

Pat Farrell then joined Skid Row and spent several years in Brush’s band. Pat also played with Rob Strong and The Rockets.

In 1981, Pat formed The Business Blues Band with Don Baker, Errol Walsh, Tommy Moore and Fran Breen. Line-ups changed but The Business kept playing the blues up to a few months before Pat’s death in January 2023 following his struggle with cancer. The Business toured Russia and played shows in London and all-around Ireland.

During that time so many great Irish musicians joined or jammed with The Business. Most of those musicians are appearing on this great gig at 3Olympia in June. Pat himself helped organise and played at the gig at the Olympic Ballroom for Declan McNelis and the Tribute to Jimmy Faulkner at the Olympia Theatre in 2008 and played at the Gig for Robbie Brennan at the Olympia Theatre in 2016. The last gig he was due to play was Remembering Noel Bridgeman also at 3Olympia Theatre in May this year.

Pat appeared for a few songs with Republic of Loose and later played regularly with Mik Pyro’s Blues Cartel. Their Whelan’s Sunday Late Night sessions are legendary.

Pat Farrell is the only guitarist to ever play on an Enya album.

The track ‘My! My! Time Flies’ is from her 2009 album, And Winter Came and Pat appeared on many TV shows throughout Europe with Enya.
