New Ross Guitar Festival

Following her star turn on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny on New Years Eve, and her stunning appearance on The Late Late Show, New Ross Guitar Festival is delighted to welcome Muireann to open this year’s Festival in a concert also featuring Irish Flamenco Virtuoso John Walsh.

Muireann is a 17 year old finger picking guitar player & singer from County Donegal. She performs Country Blues & Ragtime Blues from the 1920s & 30s, also Folk, Roots and Americana.
During the covid lockdowns she decided to start posting videos on You Tube, the first of which was her rendition of Blind Blake’s “Police Dog Blues”.
It received a lot of attention, it’s now had 80,000 views. She was soon contacted by Josh Rosenthal of Tompkins Square Records who suggested she record an album which was released in December 2023 entitled “I kept these old blues”.

John Walsh is Ireland’s leading Flamenco Guitarist. For the last 14 years John has been at the forefront of Flamenco in Ireland, as a performer, composer and educator. Hehas been featured on television & radio and has composed music for the National Ballet of Ireland, Riverdance amongst others. In 2020 John released his debut album ‘Irlandalucía, which received widespread critical acclaim, This is John’e 2nd performance at New Ross Guitar Festival.
